No. 1708 Re: Re: Re: Re: Data Loss wit CSW-M83 Serial RS232 to WIFI 2019-12-05

Dear Garros,

Thank you for the information.
Based on the information, the problem is likely due to buffer overflow in CSW-M83.

In your scheme, after CSW-M83 receives serial data, it forwards the data to the receiver via TCP.

A TCP connection guarantees the delivery of data and also guarantees that packets will be delivered in the same order in which they were sent.
Normally, there is unavoidable and unfixed delay when data travel through TCP network, especially in a WLAN network.
That is why it may take time for CSW-M83 to successfully send the data via TCP.

Because the TCP transmission probably takes longer time than serial transmission, if the receiving buffer size on CSW-M83 reaches its limit, some data will be discarded.

You may try to set the option "Disable TCP Transmission Delay" via ezManager, and test the issue again.
If you use this option, CSW-M83 sends the data from the serial port to WLAN as quickly as possible.
For more information about this, you can refer to page 65, CSW-M83 User Manual https://www.eztcp.com/en/download/pds_files/cswm83en.pdf

It is worth mentioning that the overall delay for transmitting data over TCP network includes the delay in CSW-M83, propagation delay, delay in network devices (such as router and switch), and delay in the receiver.
Reducing the delay in CSW-M83 still does not guarantee to reduce the overall delay because the overall delay depends on the network condition, therefore it does not guarantee to solve the problem if the serial transmission is set to much faster than TCP transmission.

Thank you very much.
Best Regards,
