Extending distance between two devices through the LAN

Let's think of 20th centuries' communication between serial devices without network connectivity. You may imagine some words; slow, uncomfortable and error. Nowadays, with the growing need of fast and easy network connectivity, people want to manage their devices remotely. Besides, establishing a WiFi connection has become essential to meet user's demand to improve flexibility and mobility.

When we think of serial devices with RS232/RS422/RS485 serial ports, there is distance limitation to communicate with each other. Devices with RS232 have maximum of 15 meters of distance limitation for communication and devices with RS422/RS485 cannot be connected each other if serial devices are over 2 kilometers far.

To manage and compensate the limitation, Sollae Systems' ezTCP is there to give solution for serial equipment with network connectivity either by Ethernet or WiFi. You may also connect your devices to the Internet such as LAN, wireless Lan, and PPP under variety of application.

To establish a connection, there has to be TCP Server which passively waits for data to come in, and TCP Client which actively tries to connect to the Server for data to be exchanged. For example like shown in the diagram, there are two serial devices that one is in TCP server mode and the other is in TCP client mode. When you connect each devices with Sollae Systems' ezTCP, one ezTCP works as TCP Server and the other works as TCP Client. When these connections are made, ezTCP composes serial tunneling to send and receive data from two serial devices.
